Mandate

Vedic Teaching
Veda” is the Sanskrit word for “knowledge, wisdom” and is derived from the Sanskrit root “vid” or “to know”. So the Vedas can be called “Books of Knowledge or Wisdom”.
The four Vedas – Rgved, Saamved, Yajurved and Atharvaved – are the foundation scriptures for all Dharmic practices. Vedas, in the present written form, are generally considered to have originated between 1500 BCE to 1000 BCE – the Rgved being the first – though the exact date is a topic of debate amongst scholars.
It’s philosophy is believes that unlike the material world, the physical body operates at various energy levels, some of which are more suited to recognising your aatman.
Vedas are believed to be revealed scriptures because they are divine in origin. At the Canadian Vedic Centre, we will provide classes to youth and elders on Vedas’s through reading of:
1. Bhagavat Gita
2. Ramayana
3. Upanishads
4. Related books on Hinduism and Vedic Philosophy
Classes will be held in person twice a week once the building is acquired. For all virtual classes enquires, please contact us.
ACTIVITIES

Religious Program of Navratri
The Canadian Vedic Centre will actively promote and organize Garba musical and dance performance to showcase the talents, engage volunteerism, promote cultural tolerance and to bring community together through community engagement framework.
Garba is a spiritual dance honouring the divine feminine and originates in the Indian state of Gujarat. The circular, spiraling dance represents the cycle of life and the omnipresence of divinity within it. As the discipline of dance has gained international popularity it is professionally choreographed. The opportunity to move in harmony as a community continues to draw guests from the Indo-Canadian community who come together to celebrate their identity and actively participate in strengthening the community that they are part of by sharing this tradition with friends and neighbours.
Religious Program of Diwali
This will be done through organizing of a festival most commonly referred to as, “Festival of Lights”. Diwali is celebrated every year and is the biggest celebration in Hindu religion. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness. It is particularly associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity, and marks the beginning of the fiscal year.

Worship Place
Canadian Vedic Centre is planning to operate its first place of worship. We would like to showcase the culture and religious practises through creating of a state-of-art place in Atlantic Canada. The centre will serve as a building for community coming together to enhance their religious and cultural practises.
A place of worship is a specially designed structure or space where individuals or a group of people such as a congregation come to perform acts of devotion, veneration, or religious study. A building constructed or used for this purpose is sometimes called a house of worship
